Vintage Swings are proudly handmade in Charlottesville, Virginia. Using materials and ideals of times-gone-by we set out to build swings that speak of longevity and craftsmanship.
Vintage Swings are made from full 1" thick White Oak. Sturdy and dense, White Oak is both rot and insect resistant that bests Redwood and even Cedar for long-term exterior use.
A closer look at our swings reveals the true craftsmanship and attention to detail, such as the hand-spliced ropes and doweled seats.
White Oak dowels are used to secure the seating plank to the runners. These dowels not only add distinctive beauty but add strength without the use of metal fasteners. Hand sliced loops are used to stabilize the seat and finish off the overall appeal.
The rope we use resembles old-fashioned Manila but synthetic to add weather resistance and strength. This synthetic version will outlast the original yet give the appearance of age-old swings of the past.
Each swing is hand finished in a marine-grade varnish which is formulated to withstand harsh UV exposure and an exterior climate for many years
to come.
